The
Super Touring Championship uses a similar racing format to that of the full-size V8 Supercars.
Please note: These rules are still in the preliminary stage.
Qualifying
For Qualifying, we use a 3-race knockout system. Times will be recorded as your fastest 5 non-consecutive.
a) Qualifying - Part 1 (Q1): During the first twenty (20) minute Session, all cars take part (with each car allowed a maximum of 5 minutes on the track). At the end of Q1, the fifteen (15) fastest cars in order will be permitted to continue to Q2. The remaining cars will not be permitted to take any further part in the Qualifying. The lap times of the fifteen (15) fastest cars will then be deleted.
b) Qualifying - Part 2 (Q2): After a fifteen (15) minute break the Session will resume for fifteen (15) minutes and only the remaining cars from Q1 will be permitted to take part. At the end of Q2, the five (5) fastest cars will be permitted to continue to Q3 with the lap times of those five (5) cars being deleted.
c) Qualifying - Part 3 (Q3): After a ten (10) minute break the Session will resume for five (5) minutes and only the top five (5) cars from Q2 will be permitted to take part.
The driver to take Pole Position after Q3 will be awarded an additional 1 point towards his daily points total.
Any changes can be made between qualifiers - new tires, setup changes, battery changes, etc.
Grid Positions
Grid positions will be determined by the final classification from Qualifying - from fastest driver to slowest driver - based on the Q1, Q2 and Q3 performance.
Race Starts
All races will use a single-file, Standing Start procedure with a maximum of 10 cars in each race (unless otherwise noted).
Race Lengths
Like the real V8 Supercars, the
STC offers different Race Formats that will be identified on the
Race Calendar. The Race Formats are as follows:
Format 1: Short Sprint Race
Race Length: 10 minutes
Races Per Day: 4
Pit Stops: 1 per race
Pit Stop Window: After Lap 1, before the 5 minute mark
Format 2: Long Sprint Race
Race Length: 15 minutes
Races Per Day: 3
Pit Stops: 2 per race
Pit Stop Window: After Lap 1, before the 10 minute mark
Format 3: Endurance Race
Race Length: 25 minutes
Races Per Day: 2
Pit Stops: 2 per race
Pit Stop Window: After Lap 1, before the 15 minute mark
Pit Stops
Depending on the Race Format, there will be a number of mandatory pit stops in each Race. The driver must make their pit(s) during the prescribed Pit Lane Window to adhere to the Pit Lane Rules. After the designated Pit Window, the pit lane will be closed. Failure to complete your pit stop(s) during a race will accrue a 15-lap penalty (per pit) off the results of that race.
Race Resort
The timing software automatically resorts ALL the racers after the first Main. This means, depending on your finishing order, you may end up in a different run group. For example; Driver A qualifies 4th out of 30 drivers, putting him in the A run group. He breaks on lap 2 and ends up last in that Race Session. After the resort, he now drops down into the C run group. This can also affect what race number you are in, so you'll need to pay attention to that.
